I noticed that limited accounts are able to join and post message on group chat/channels. Hence, I fully support you that this is indeed a method that could be abused. I'm astounded that steam restricted all community features, but yet, they left the most essential feature wide open to spammers and spreaders.

My intention was to fetch the latest post from a sub-reddit and submit it to a dedicated steam channel (like a news channel)... Steam itself is providing already a decent counter measure for spam bots anyway ;-)

I'm currently facing the same "issue". I tried to find the cid on the browser source, console, json responses. Unfortunately without any luck.
