Question Send/receive messages to/from non-friends

Hi, is it possible to send and receive messages from users without adding them to friends list? I'm not asking for spam purposes, I wanted to create 1v1 chatbot and there is a friends limit

You should be able to send messages to non-friends if you're in a group chat with them, but that's about it I think.

Thanks! So I can create a group, ask users to join group chat, listen to events when users join group chat and then start private 1v1 chats with them?
