I'm currently facing the same "issue". I tried to find the cid on the browser source, console, json responses. Unfortunately without any luck.

this one yes, my problem. but i just wanna know how can i send a message to my group using gid or link group? 
Any method?

I don't believe it's currently possible with new Steam chat.

My intention was to fetch the latest post from a sub-reddit and submit it to a dedicated steam channel (like a news channel)...

Steam itself is providing already a decent counter measure for spam bots anyway ;-)

I noticed that limited accounts are able to join and post message on group chat/channels. Hence, I fully support you that this is indeed a method that could be abused. I'm astounded that steam restricted all community features, but yet, they left the most essential feature wide open to spammers and spreaders.
